Fort Vancouver National Historic Site |

|
Fort Vancouver National Historic Site is situated on the northern side of the Columbia River in Vancouver, Washington. Previously, Fort Vancouver was the administrative headquarters and main supply depot for the Hudson's Bay Company's fur trading business in the Columbia Department. Later on, the Fort became the center of political, cultural, and commercial activities in the Pacific Northwest, under the leadership of John McLoughlin.

When American immigrants came to Oregon country during the 1830s and 1840s, Fort Vancouver provided them with essential supplies to start afresh their new settlements.
In 1996, Vancouver National Historic Reserve was founded to protect historically significant areas that are located close by. It includes Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, Vancouver Barracks, Officers' Row, Pearson Field, The Water Resources Education Center, and some portions of the Columbia River waterfront.
