The Southwest Oregon Regional Airport located in the Coos County and city of North Bend was formerly known as the North Bend Municipal Airport. It is the only commercial airport on the Oregon Coastal region. Served solely by the Horizon Air, this airport is extremely significant as it links the city of North Bend to the Portland International Airport which is the largest in Oregon. The management is currently trying to attract more airlines to the airport to offer more destinations to passengers. Working in close liaison with airport authorities in Klamath Falls, The Southwest Oregon Regional Airport aviation authorities are seeking federal funding to meet the initial start up costs for an airline to provide service from both airports to San Francisco, California.
There is a daily, non-stop flight provided by Horizon Air from North Bend to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport . Apart from enjoying the services of the Horizon Air,the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport is also served by the Alaska Airlines too. Due to its proximity to the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort one of the common sightings at the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport is that of the swarm of private jets packed with eminent golfers who are on their way to the famous golf resort of Oregon.
Despite its small and insignificant stature it plays an instrumental role in connecting the Coos county to the largest city of Portland.
